Nina L. Harrison

Nina L. Harrison was awarded the 2019 Racial Justice Fellowship by the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation. The two-year fellowship will support her work at Community Legal Aid in Worcester, MA, where she helps former inmates in Central and Western Massachusetts reintegrate into society. Previously, she was a staff attorney at the Responsible Parent Project of the Rhode Island Legal Services in Providence, RI.

       

Goal: As a racial justice fellow at the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, she hopes to mitigate the effects of racial bias in the criminal justice system and challenge rules and policies that have a discriminatory effect. Her Place in Ten Years: Would like to be doing systemic advocacy work for racial justice and teaching at an undergraduate or law school. Extracurricular Activities: Has traveled to twenty-six countries, loves to cook, and is obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy. Last Impactful Book Read: Just Mercy. Inspiration: “My mother—she is a brilliant problem-solver, a phenomenal nurturer, and she does everything in her life to a standard of excellence.”
