On February 26, the BC Law community gathered to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the BC Law Impact student blog. Originally launched to give prospective students a more authentic look at the law school experience through the eyes of current students, the platform has since evolved into a global bridge connecting students, alumni, and legal professionals.
The celebration highlighted the blog’s remarkable growth, culminating in a record-breaking 2025 that saw over 53,000 visitors and 77,000 pageviews. The 10-year celebration event honored the blog’s role in demystifying the law school journey—from tackling the realities of the curve to sharing profound reflections on mental health and public interest advocacy.
Dean Odette Lienau praised the student writers for embodying the school’s Jesuit ethos. “In sharing both their challenges and their triumphs, Impact writers show the world how to strive for excellence while centering your humanity and care for others,” she said. “Your insightful, ethical, and public-minded voices are so important to our community and well beyond.”
Current Impact president Sangeeta Kishore spoke of cementing the blog’s legacy of community building and resilience. “Having just committed to BC, nervous and uncertain about what was to come, I came across the Impact blog,” she said. “Reading articles about conquering the cold call and professor personalities—even the best burritos in my soon-to-be new home of Newton—I started to feel at ease about my decision…The three years of law school fly by, something I’m actively coming to terms with, but BC Law’s vibrant community is what makes this place special. And the Impact Blog is a true manifestation of that.”
