In a Facebook post on Thursday, William Landay ’90 passed on the news that his bestselling 2012 novel Defending Jacob is coming to a screen near you. The Newton author’s thriller about a lawyer whose teenage son is accused of killing a classmate, will become an eight-episode Apple series starring Chris Evans (Captain America and Avengers).
Filming will begin in March. According to Deadline, other A-listers involved are Mark Bomback (Planet of the Apes trilogy), who will write the series, and Oscar-nominated director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), who will executive produce and direct.
“I’ve seen the first few scripts and they’re fantastic,” Landay said in his post.
