Some 90 graduates from the Class of 2020 returned to BC Law during Reunion Weekend November 5 and 6 to do two very important things: 1) party at the Black and White Ball and 2) don caps and gowns to walk across a commencement stage. Both traditional in-person events celebrating the completion of law school were denied them last year because of Covid-19 restrictions.
The graduates were greeted by many familiar faces. Dean Vincent Rougeau returned from his new job as President of the College of the Holy Cross to bestow congratulations. Professor Judith McMorrow gave a rousing commencement speech and Interim Dean Diane Ring offered warm greetings from the faculty. Mason Marek ’20, who was Law Student Association Vice President during the students’ final year, also spoke from the heart, as did chaplain Fred Enman, SJ, ’78 in his invocation and benediction.
Commencement was held at 300 Hammond Pond Parkway to accommodate a crowd of nearly 300 people—counting graduates’ families—and everyone celebrated at the champagne reception afterward.
As for the Black and White Ball, well, 2020 classmates in formal attire danced late into the evening the night before at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston.
