Climate justice lawyer Jeremy Orr will serve as the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy’s Senior Fellow in Residence from March 15-17. He recently joined Earthjustice as director of litigation and advocacy partnerships at the premier environmental law organization.
During his time at BC Law, Orr will give a community address on America’s water crisis on March 15, moderate the Rappaport Center’s Energy Justice program on March 17, and meet with students, faculty, and staff, among other activities.
In his new role at Earthjustice, Orr will help the organization’s offices, programs, and departments build strategies to deeply engage and genuinely partner with communities and other stakeholders.
Prior to joining Earthjustice, Orr served as a senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council where he focused on drinking water and source water protection issues, working to ensure that all people have access to safe, sufficient, and affordable drinking water. Immediately before that, Orr worked for Peoples Climate Movement as the director of state programs, building and mobilizing coalitions across more than twenty states in pursuit of climate justice.
With a background in community organizing and community lawyering, Orr has also served as the director of organizing for Interfaith Worker Justice, an environmental justice attorney for the Transnational Environmental Law Clinic, the executive director of the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition, and a lead community organizer with the Gamaliel Foundation. Orr earned his BS, MS, and JD degrees from Michigan State University.
