BC Law Is Well Worth It

Graduate salaries and reasonable debt loads put school at #17 for affordability.

Recent research by Georgetown University ranks Boston College Law at #17 for most “worth it” law schools in the nation. The study finds that law school students incur a median $118,500 in debt in pursuit of their degree, heightening the stakes for graduates hoping to pay off loans.

Three different return on investment metrics determine whether the steep cost of attendance to the top law schools live up to the perceived value of the education. The ranking is based on median monthly debt payments, median annual earnings four years after graduation, as well as median annual earnings net of debt payment four years after graduation.

BC Law’s median monthly debt payments are $1,400 a month, median annual earnings at $144,500, and annual earnings net of debt payments at $127,700. BC Law is one of only five law schools with graduates earning more than $100,000, while paying under $1,500 in monthly debt.

Among those joining BC Law in the top 20 “worth it” schools are Harvard Law (#6), Yale Law (#10), and Georgetown Law (#18).
