In its fourth year as an official observer organization for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Boston College sent seventeen delegates to attend COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, this past November, three of whom were BC Law students: Korinna Garfield ’25, Carly Morris ’26, and Sangeeta Kishore ’26. Organized by BC’s Schiller Institute, the delegation spent a week of the conference with more than 55,000 others. Kishore said that attending COP29—the Conference of the Parties, an annual series under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change—was the opportunity of a lifetime. “Being a part of this delegation reinvigorated my existing passion for climate justice and opened my eyes to the wealth of possibilities before me,” she said. In the spring, the delegates will participate in a symposium to share their learnings with the BC community.
