Boston College Law School Professor Renee Jones has been named a European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) research member for her exceptional contributions to corporate governance. She will join an established network of academics shaping the future of corporate governance worldwide.

“Everyone familiar with Professor Jones’s scholarship, as well as with her leadership in serving the country in her area of expertise, will know that her selection honors both her and the ECGI,” said Associate Dean of Faculty Paulo Barrozo. “Her colleagues in the faculty couldn’t be prouder, nor could they be less surprised by the recognition her selection represents.”s

The ECGI provides a prestigious global platform for corporate and finance research, attracting a large number of applicants from around the world. ECGI research members are eligible to publish their academic work on corporate governance and stewardship in the ECGI Working Paper Series (Law and Finance), a highly regarded collection of work known for its reliability, breadth, and impact on policymaking and practice.

“Joining ECGI as a research member will extend the reach of my work to a broader global audience and allow me to connect and collaborate with researchers, practitioners, and policymakers through ECGI-sponsored events and forums,” said Jones.

Jens Dammann, professor of law at The University of Texas and chair of the ECGI’s research members selection committee, said, “ECGI is a unique network of researchers from around the world combining the best scholars from finance and law. These new appointments will bring additional insight and energy to an already thriving community. Their work will provide value for everyone following the latest corporate governance developments and we warmly welcome them to ECGI.”

Jones, the Dr. Thomas F. Carney Distinguished Scholar at BC Law, served as the Division of Corporation Finance Director at the US Securities and Exchange Commission from 2021 to 2023. Her courses include Corporations, Securities Regulation, Startup Company Governance, and Financial Regulation.
