March Event Roundup

BC Law holds more than 300 events a year featuring presentations by experts across the legal spectrum. Here is a selection of events held during the month of March.

       
Art experts Michael O'Donnell and Rena Neville 

The Art Law Society held a discussion on art crimes with two field experts. Speaking on the topic of anti-money laundering, Rena Neville drew upon her experience as head of the art division at FSC Compliance in London, a leading provider of anti-money laundering compliance. She was joined by Sullivan & Worcester attorney Nicholas O’Donnell ’03, co-chair of the Art, Cultural Institutions and Heritage Law Committee of the International Bar Association, who spoke about restitution.


Admin Law in Light of Trump 2.0

The Federalist Society hosted BC Law professor Daniel Lyons to discuss the state and issues of administrative law in light of the new Administration’s actions. Lyons, who specializes in administrative law, has testified before Congress and state legislatures, and has participated in numerous proceedings at the Federal Communications Commission.


Doing Business, Doing Good

The Public Interest Law Foundation and Business Law Society convened a panel of attorneys in the business and corporate law areas of private practice to discuss how they are impacting the public good through their work. Panelists included Thomas Burton ’96, chair of the energy and sustainability practice at Mintz; Meghan Moran, senior corporate counsel at Amazon; Craig Ziady ’93, senior vice president and general counsel at Cummings Properties, LLC; Sandy Tarrant ’99, a clinical professor at BC Law; and Lawrence Gennari, co-founder and partner at Gennari Aronson and an adjunct professor at BC Law.


Faculty Workshops

An expert in political theory, Tufts University political science professor Vickie Sullivan presented her scholarship on how the work of political philosopher Montesquieu influenced the legislative acts of the American founders. Joshua Braver, an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, shared his work on army professional constitutionalism through the lens of his research on constitutional law and political theory.


Regulation & Markets Workshops

A scholar in corporate law and securities, Duke Law professor Yaron Nili spoke on the reputation and informal norms in private equity. Boston University School of Law professor Woodrow Hartzog, who is internationally recognized for his work in privacy and technology law, shared his scholarship examining the issue of AI data scraping and privacy.


Legal History Roundtable

BC Law’s 2024-2026 Drinan Visiting Assistant Professor Rebecca Horwitz-Willis presented her project analyzing how Black educators in the pre-Brown North used their collective agency to advocate for laws and policies that would shift power to local Black communities.
