Fresh off of law school graduation, Deepti Sailappan ‘25 is already gaining accolades for her prodigious commitment to pro bono work. On September 28, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee named her a recipient of the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award. Sailappan was one of only two law recipients this year.

The Adams Pro Bono Publico Awards, named in honor of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, are given in recognition of extraordinary dedication to providing volunteer services for persons unable to afford legal representation.

Sailappan was a stalwart of pro bono work while at BC Law, completing more than 500 hours of service on projects with the Civil Rights Clinic, Immigration Clinic, Greater Boston Legal Services, and Massachusetts Law Reform Institute. She was recognized for those achievements with the BC Law Clinical Legal Education Association Award at the Commencement Eve Awards Celebration in May.

“I feel grateful to have learned from several kind, incredibly resilient clients and my wonderful supervisors while at BC Law,” said Sailappan upon the award announcement. “Pro bono service fueled my excitement to enter the profession.”

Sailappan will receive the Adams Award publicly as part of a ceremony on October 28, at 4 p.m. in the Supreme Judicial Court’s Seven Justice Courtroom at the John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Boston. The program will also be available to watch live online at https://boston.suffolk.edu/sjc/.
