Undergraduate students had the opportunity to simulate their response to President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization in a Global Public Health Law class lead by BC Law Professor David Wirth (above), Professor of the Practice Mary Ann Chirba, and graduate teaching assistant Joseph Manning, a third-year BC Law student. The class is a requirement of the Global Public Health and the Common Good minor as part of BC’s new Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society.
Students in the course were split into delegations representing a variety of nations where they examined a range of issues from the COVID-19 pandemic response of nations to International Health Regulations. Simulations included negotiations over the course of 4 weeks with the intent of delving into the flaws of systematic health policy to introduce targeted reform to protect citizens.
