The Charity Report has included Boston College Law School Professor Ray Madoff in its 2020 List of Exceptional Women. Selected for taking “exception to the inequity around them” and fearlessly speaking out or making decisions unpopular with people of influence, the honorees “articulated a critique that took guts, intelligence, wit, and steadfastness,” the report said.
Madoff is being honored for her work questioning the current distribution of donor advised funds and her 2018-2019 testimony at the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector in Ottawa, Canada.
Madoff is the co-founder and director of the Boston College Law School Forum on Philanthropy and the Public Good, a non-partisan think tank that convenes scholars and practitioners to explore questions regarding whether the rules governing the charitable sector best serve the public. She teaches and writes in the areas of philanthropy policy, taxes, property, and estate planning.
