Boston College Law School holds more than 300 events a year, most of them educational, scholarly, and newsworthy presentations by experts across the legal spectrum. Here is a selection of what was heard in auditoriums, classrooms, and workshops during the month of February.
Scoring Big in Sports Law: Three BC Law alums—Sarah Willson ’18, Sheila Meagher ’16, and Hadley Holmes ’19—shared their experiences working in the sports industry during a panel discussion hosted by the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. Willson, who is associate counsel for the Boston Celtics, discussed her work advising on corporate partnerships, marketing, and events, while Meagher shared her experience working as counsel for Major League Baseball. Holmes, who served as a legal intern for the Boston Red Sox, spoke about her career path and her current role as junior corporate counsel for PUMA Group.
At another event, the Sports & Entertainment Law Society hosted a discussion with BC Law alum Nick Macri ’14, director of compliance at the NFL. He spoke about his work handling compliance issues in a global sports market and how his career trajectory, including seven years as an associate at Ropes & Gray, prepared him for the role.
