On the Job: Katharine Young was promoted to associate professor with tenure and Lynnise Pantin to permanent status as associate clinical professor. Claire Donohue ’05 returns to BC Law as faculty in a new position in law and social work. Hiba Hafiz joins the faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor teaching antitrust and administrative law. The associate dean of faculty role, most recently held by Alfred Yen, was split between Diane Ring, who holds the original title and manages faculty, and Renee Jones, who as associate dean of academics handles curriculum and academic services. Brian Quinn was succeeded as associate dean for experiential learning by Judith McMorrow, who is also managing global engagement efforts. Daniel Kanstroom followed R. Michael Cassidy as faculty director of the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy. David Olson became faculty director of the Program on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) and Evangeline Sarda of the Leaders Entering and Advancing Public Service (LEAPS) program.
Etcetera: In a single day in March, presentations by three tax faculty were featured in the Tax Prof Blog: James Repetti ’80 writing on tax rates, and Diane Ring and Shu-Yi Oei, on leak-driven law. The “Robert Morris: Lawyer & Archivist” exhibit brochure created by Professor Mary Bilder and librarians Laurel Davis and Lily Dyer won a 2018 AALL award. Mary Holper ’03, director of the Immigration Clinic, received the 2018 Sarah B. Ignatius Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project.
A Passing: Paul McManus, who coached Mock Trial Competition teams for decades and taught in the BC Defender Clinic, passed away in May.
