Amy Lai is the 2023 recipient of the Voltaire Prize for Tolerance, International Understanding, and Respect for Difference presented by the University of Potsdam in Germany for her book, In Defense of Free Speech in Universities: A Study of Three Jurisdictions, (University of Michigan Press). A forthcoming project examines encroachments on academic freedom and legal debates around the cancel culture movement in the UK, US, Canada, and Germany.
