Edward Siedle has been identified by American Bankerand the Providence-based website golocalprov.com as the winner of a record $48 million whistle-blower award from the Securities and Exchange Commission. According to the publications, Siedle tipped off the SEC to wrongdoing by J.P. Morgan Chase, which failed to notify its money management clients that it was steering them to funds operated by its affiliates or by third parties that kicked back part of their fees to the financial giant. Siedle was also identified as the winner of a record $30 million award from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, also for his role in exposing the conduct by J.P. Morgan Chase.
