Jessica Singal Shapiro

Jessica Singal Shapiro was named acting commissioner of the Philadelphia (PA) Department of Human Services (DHS). She previously served as chief of staff to the two previous DHS commissioners, and as chief of staff to the deputy commissioner in the department’s Children and Youth Division. She is married to Mathieu Shapiro ’95, the managing partner in the Philadelphia, PA, office of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP.

       

Milestone: Celebrated her nineteenth anniversary working for the City of Philadelphia this year. Passion: Strengthening and protecting vulnerable children and families. Inspiration: BC Law Professor Francine Sherman and the Juvenile Rights Advocacy Project.
