Martin J. Hatlie is one of two recipients of the inaugural Michael Seres Humanitarian Award presented by the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. He is president and chief executive officer of Project Patient Care in Chicago, IL, and co-director of the MedStar Institute for Quality and Safety in Columbia, MD. A leader in patient safety throughout his career, he works as a consultant for US federal health system transformation projects funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
