Summer position: Summer Associate at Goodwin Procter LLP
When Laura Jacobs ’16 first heard the term “OCI,” or on-campus interviews, she wasn’t sure what it entailed. “It’s hard to fully prepare for what lies ahead,” she says. “Luckily, the wonderful BC Law Career Services staff was with me every step of the way – from resume preparation to interviewing tips to vent sessions.”
The OCI process begins the summer after the first year, when students send applications to participating employers. All interviews occur during the same week in August, and even as early as the second day of that week, students could start hearing about callbacks. “After that comes the surreal experience of receiving one or multiple offers,” Jacobs says. “Throughout the entire process, career service staff would check in to make sure everything was going smoothly and talk through any concerns I had.”
When it came time to make her decision, Jacobs says she felt a mixture of relief and excitement. “All of my hard work in 1L year paid off and I found my ideal firm,” she says. “I was overwhelmed by how helpful my classmates were, from sending me notes on classes I missed during callbacks, to making sure I got a good spot on seating charts. Those small gestures are part of the reason I love BC Law. The support and genuine sense of community makes this place stand out from other law schools. If I were to make the decision again today, I would not hesitate to choose BC Law all over again.”
During her summer internship at the firm, Jacobs was offered–and accepted–a full-time position at Goodwin Procter following her graduation.
