At Boston College Law School’s 85th Commencement on May 25, Debra Wong Yang ’85, a partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and former US Attorney for the Central District of California, urged the two hundred and twenty-six JD and twelve LLM graduates “to be in control of your own destiny” and seize opportunities with joy and passion. Speaking in Conte Forum, she also stressed the gravity of upholding the rule of law. “Seeing, as I have, many places where the rule of law is severely impaired highlights how important it is for our country,” she said. Commencement’s top honors went to Brian Durkin (academic rank), KG Gasseling (intellectual qualities), Valentina De Fex (public service), and Kelly Charlotte Morgan (scholarship and service).
