Raising the Bar

Three Stipend Recipients Speak Up

Faculty support means an investment in students.

BC Law’s renowned faculty members help students develop intellectually, personally, and ethically, which has created the distinctive BC Law experience for generations. What attracts outstanding faculty to BC Law and then keeps them here? The promise that they can do their best work—including through faculty support and endowed professorships. And when BC Law invests in the very best faculty, the student experience becomes richer and the school’s reputation grows.

Emily Masse, JD/MSW’24

Staff Attorney, Family Law; Community Legal Aid, Worcester, Mass. “The internships that PILF funded provided some of the most formative moments in my legal education, preparing me to not only understand how to apply the law but also how to walk alongside clients and make space for their stories to be heard. I am incredibly grateful for the support of donors who make PILF summer funding possible and I am excited to support PILF in the future as a proud alum.”

Harold Hinds ’13

Special Education Hearing Officer; New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, Special Education Division “Without a shadow of a doubt, I would not be doing this work were it not for a PILF stipend. My internship with the US Department of Education was probably the most formative experience that I had, and kind of set the stage for showing me what educational law and policy was. Without the PILF stipend, I wouldn’t have been able to do that internship, I wouldn’t have met mentors who guided me through the early stages of my career. It was not just a lifeline; it was my entry into the public interest space.”

Cameron Casey ’21

Trial Attorney, Committee for Public Counsel Services “By funding stipends, PILF is not only helping Boston College Law students get experience in the public sector, it is also helping all of the organizations where the law students are working and the communities that they serve.”

Meeting the Rising Demand
