Students Honored for Teaching Assistantships

Aiding professors in the classroom turns out to be a rewarding experience for four 3Ls.

(L-R) 3Ls Jared Berson, Marco Cobian, JP LaBarge, and Laura Stateler were honored for their teaching assistantships.

Jared Berson ’25, Marco Cobian ’25, JP LaBarge ’25, and Laura Stateler ’25 recently received the Center for Teaching Excellence’s Donald J. White Award. The program was established to recognize graduate students who have served as Teaching Fellows and Teaching Assistants at Boston College, including those at BC Law.

The four recipients served as TA’s in different classrooms, with Berson in Professor Glenn Cunha’s Introduction to Government Oversight elective; Cobian in Professor Lisa Alexander’s Corporations and Local Government Law courses; LaBarge in Professor Maureen Van Neste’s Law Practice course and Professor Carol Kamm’s Introduction to Negotiations elective; and Stateler in Professor Ingrid Hillinger’s Contracts course and Professor Geoffrey Why’s Introduction to Administrative Practice elective.

LaBarge reflected on the honor, sharing that “being recognized in this way means so much. Some of the most meaningful guidance I’ve received—especially as a 1L—came from my TAs, who helped me find my footing in law school and continue to be mentors today. It’s been a privilege to pay that support forward and to be part of [other] students’ journeys.”
