Amy Lai is the recipient of the 2020 Open Inquiry Exceptional Scholarship Award, presented by Heterodox Academy, for her book, The Right to Parody: Comparative Analysis of Copyright and Free Speech, published by Cambridge University Press in 2019, and a forthcoming book on freedom of expression in higher education. In 2021 she received the Franklyn S. Haiman Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Freedom of Expression. She is a lawyer, legal scholar, and writer based at Freie Universität in Berlin.
