Hewlett was appointed a commissioner of the National Capital Planning Commission by President Biden in October. She was also named to Maryland Attorney General-Elect Anthony Brown’s Transition Team Steering Committee. An attorney known for her trailblazing public service, she recently retired from her second term as chair of the Prince George’s County (MD) Planning Board and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, where she was the first African American to hold the post.

Fong was appointed chair of the Board of Directors of Maryknoll School in Honolulu, HI, and chair of the board of directors and president of Palolo Chinese Home. Her new book, Odd Simple Beauty, featuring song lyrics from her previous collections and the work of local artists, was published by BookBaby in October; all proceeds benefit Asian Women for Health, a nonprofit organization promoting the health and wellbeing of Asian women through education, advocacy, and support. She is one of five women named to the 2022 Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (MLW) Circle of Excellence, having previously been named a MLW Top Women of Law.
