BC Law Magazine’s writers and artists.

Jacques Leslie

Writer Leslie is a Los Angeles Times contributing opinion writer and author of Deep Water: The Epic Struggle Over Dams, Displaced People, and the Environment, winner of the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award for its “elegant, beautiful prose.” He has won numerous awards for his work in books, magazines, and newspapers. “Scott Williams ’74 is a man of high integrity and small ego,” Leslie said. “Getting to know him has been heartening. He has filled in a vital missing piece in my understanding of the trendsetting, astonishing Klamath River basin.

Jordan Gale

Photographer Based in Portland, Oregon, Gale specializes in editorial and narrative photography. Clients include the New York Times, the Washington PostNew York Magazine, and The Guardian. Of his images for Great Case, he said, “Our fragile relationship with the earth and wildlife is evident in the communities and landscapes of the Klamath River Basin. Those who advocated for the removal of four…dams along this river system understand that our reliance on the planet’s resources is unsustainable. That fact—that fight—I clearly feel in each of my photographs.”

Chad Konecky

Writer Konecky runs GloWEST Communications, an integrated media marketing shop and has been a multimedia journalist for a variety of outlets, including ESPN and USA Today. In “The Mel Robbins Effect,” he revisits Robbins ’94 ten years after reporting a BC Law Magazine cover story on her career as a CNN legal analyst. “You could tell back in Manhattan that Mel was destined for something bigger, but I can’t imagine that her 2015 self would believe where she’s landed. Reconnecting with her personal narrative now that she’s a global media phenomenon was eye-opening.”

Diana Levine

Photographer Levine is an editorial photographer based in Boston. She has done covers for Boston Magazine and Boston Globe Magazine, and portraits of notables such as Kim Kardashian, Usher, Ed Sheeran, and Julian Edelman. She has also photographed for Rolling StoneBillboard, Converse, MTV, and numerous universities. Coincidentally, before doing a BC Law photo shoot of former art auctioneer Samina Gagné ’26, Levine had read a book about—of all things—an art auctioneer. “I was so excited to hear about her life and what brought her to law school,” she said.
