Carol Rose

The executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts was the Rappaport Center’s senior fellow last fall. She spoke about activism and community building efforts, and the defense of civil rights and liberties. The centerpiece of her stay was moderating a panel titled “Responding to the Executive Branch’s Targeted Enforcement: How Lawyers Protect Civil Rights.”


Hon. Frank Bailey

Bailey, the speaker at a BC Law Republicans event on individual liberties and the role of public interest law, shared his experience as the president of the Pioneer New England Legal Foundation, and his work toward greater transparency in government and choice in education. He is the former Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Massachusetts.


Guy-Uriel Charles

The Harvard Law professor participated on a panel co-hosted by the Black Law Students Association and the American Constitution Society. He discussed oral arguments in Louisiana v. Callais and implications for redistricting and the Voting Rights Act. Charles is also faculty director of Harvard University’s Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race & Justice. 


Michael Sapherstein ’97

The co-founder of BC Law’s Intellectual Property and Technology Forum, provided insights to students on sports and entertainment law. His career has touched on both areas, from working as assistant chief counsel at Marvel Entertainment/The Walt Disney Company and as VP and deputy general counsel at MLB Advanced Media.


Hon. Kimberly Moore

The chief circuit judge was one of three US Federal Circuit Court of Appeals judges to hear oral arguments at BC Law last fall. Their visit was part of a program in which the court holds special sittings at law schools, allowing students to observe real cases in person. Judge Moore heard four live cases and participated in a Q&A session with students.
