The Rappaport Center for Law & Public Policy will host a nonpartisan candidates forum for the seat of Norfolk County District Attorney on April 22 at 4 p.m. at BC Law.
The event comes as District Attorney Michael Morrissey steps down after 15 years in office, setting up a competitive and closely watched race with significant implications for the role of prosecution in advancing public safety, accountability, and community trust. During Morrissey’s tenure, the office handled a number of high-profile cases, including the prosecution of Karen Read and the investigation into the death of Sandra Birchmore.
Candidates invited to participate include Jim Barakat, Greg Connor, Adam Deitch, Macy Lee, Craig MacLellan, and Djuna Perkins, each bringing a range of experience across prosecution, defense, and public service. All candidates who have publicly announced their candidacy and filed statements of organization with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) by April 17 at 5 p.m. ET are invited.
The Rappaport Center, housed at Boston College Law School, inspires, sustains, and improves leadership in law and public policy at the state and local level. The center’s core activities include convening the region’s policymakers and thought leaders in generative discussions on critical public policy issues through its Distinguished Public Policy Speakers Series; bringing Visiting Professors in Law and Public Policy and Senior Fellows in Residence to share their expertise in government, nonprofits, and academia; and supporting emerging leaders by providing them with funded opportunities to work in state and local government agencies through the Rappaport Fellowship in Law and Public Policy.
The Center was established at Boston College Law School in 2015 with a gift from the Phyllis & Jerome Lyle Rappaport Foundation, and is led by executive director Amanda Teo and faculty director Patricia McCoy.
The Norfolk DA Candidates’ Forum is open to the public. If you are interested in attending, please register.
