Environment: Julianne Kurdila’s interest in environmental law began at BC Law through the Environmental Affairs Law Review, but what kept her in the field was its reach. “Environmental law affects everybody,” she explained, a perspective that shaped her work across government and industry. Perspective: Through the American Bar Association’s Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative, Kurdila spent a year in Kyiv helping women lawyers across the border in Belarus organize “in secret.” The experience taught her to slow down, listen closely, and appreciate different perspectives. Performance: A longtime theater performer, Kurdila sees clear overlap between acting and advocacy. “Every negotiation can kind of be seen as theater,” she said, emphasizing the importance of listening and understanding “the dynamics of the various actors on the play.”
