Geaneen M. Arends, a partner in the Detroit, MI, office of Butzell Long, was elected vice president of the firm’s board of directors and is the first person of color and third woman to serve in the role in the firm’s 167-year history. She is also chair of the firm’s corporate and real estate practices and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. In May, she was named one of the 2021 Notable Executives in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by Crain’s Detroit Business and appointed to the Barbara Ann Karmonos Cancer Institute’s Board of Directors.
