Summer position: Intern at Veolia (Paris)
During his 1L year, Sajid Shahriar ‘16 took an elective course called Globalization, where he learned that the legal field is a crucial player in an increasingly global world, whether from the perspective of corporate law, environmental law, immigration law, or human rights law. When the first-ever Paris Exchange/Externship program was announced at the beginning of his 2L year, he jumped at the opportunity to experience the world of international law for himself.
He is very glad he did. Working as an intern at the world headquarters of a large multinational corporation called Veolia Environnement S.A., Shahriar was able to cultivate vital first-hand experience in the field of international mergers & acquisitions—all in the heart of Paris. “I worked on large, complex projects based in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America, at every stage of the M&A transaction,” he says. “I quickly earned respect from my supervisors and peers due to both the stellar reputation of BC Law and the excellent practical M&A training I received at our exchange school partner, HEAD. My unique experience bridging the legal and cultural divide while navigating the nebulous waters of international law will be invaluable for the rest of my career.”
