Veteran broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff addressed Boston College Law School’s 258 graduating JD and LLM students with a powerful and inspiring message. At the ceremony held on May 26 in Conte Forum, she emphasized that in a time of domestic political turmoil and ambiguity, it was imperative that the Class of 2023 “speak up for the truth,” and to do it boldly, with courage, and in a way that lifts us up. She expressed hope in the graduates’ ability to use their law degrees to overcome uncertainty and to act as leaders of inclusion and humaneness. Top commencement honors went to Heather Odell (academic rank), Elizabeth Ryan Foley (intellectual qualities), Sarah C. Ursini (public service), and Michael Thomas Alario (scholarship and service).
