A Dream Come True for Hopengarten ’70

He is among nine alumni to announce promotions and other recent achievements.

       

Fred Hopengarten  ’70 (above) was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Radio Relay League, the national organization for amateur radio comprised of more than 160,000 members. His election to the fifteen-member board was the realization of a lifelong dream for Hopengarten, who has been an FCC-licensed radio ham since the age of ten. A telecommunications lawyer in Lincoln, MA, author, and frequent speaker, he maintains a website featuring his articles and recent activities at antennazoning.com.


Corbett, Greg-

Gregory F. Corbett ’99

A partner in the Boston office of Wolf Greenfield, Corbett has been appointed chair of the litigation practice. With nearly twenty years of experience in first chair litigation, he counsels clients in the areas of complex intellectual property and patent litigation, post-grant proceedings, appellate proceedings, and licensing. He was previously a partner in the Washington, DC, office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and practiced in the areas of patent and intellectual property litigation.

Jared M. Viders ’99

Viders recently published his first book Seize the Moment! Finding Meaningfulness in the Here and Now with Mosaica Press. His law practice in Suffern, NY, consists primarily of litigation and drafting briefs on behalf of other New York firms. Jared also is a member of the faculty at Yeshiva Ohr Somayach in Monsey, NY, where he received his rabbinical ordination.

Kate Sandman McKinley ’02

A senior managing director and general counsel of State Street Global Advisors in Boston, McKinley manages the company’s legal affairs worldwide and oversees attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants in Boston, Montreal, London, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Sydney. She has been with State Street Global Advisors since 2010, and previously was chief operating officer of the firm’s Americas Institutional Client Group, responsible for the management and operation of institutional business in North America and Latin America.

Nicholas T. Stack ’10

Stack is a partner in the Toledo, OH, office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP and a member of the firm’s litigation and employee compensation and benefits groups. He has extensive experience litigating a broad range of commercial, appellate, and Employment Retirement Income Security Act issues. In his commercial and appellate practice, he focuses on business torts, contract disputes, trade secret claims, and restrictive covenants. When not practicing law, Stack spends time with his family, engaged in competitive squash or softball, or hiking and backpacking.

Clements is an associate in the Boston office of Goulston & Storrs and a member of its real estate group. He focuses on representing owners, institutional investors, and developers in connection with commercial real estate financing, acquisitions, dispositions, and transactions. In addition, he has lectured on economic development incentives topics for a number of organizations, including Heritage Ohio, the Ohio Economic Development Association, and the Ohio State Center for Real Estate at Fisher College of Business.

Da Costa is an associate at Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP in London, Ontario, Canada, where she advises employers in the private and public sectors on a broad range of labor and employment issues. Her previous position as a labor negotiator for the City of Seattle, WA, and her experience practicing law in both the US and Canada have allowed her to help employers navigate a more global regulatory landscape.
