Damon Hart ’99 will be recognized by the Boston Bar Association (BBA) with the 2026 Richard A. Soden Public Service Award next spring. The honor is presented annually to business or civic leaders who have displayed exemplary leadership, community service, and alignment with the Boston Bar Foundation’s mission to promote justice through the law.
Hart will receive the award at the annual Adams Benefit event on April 11 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Each year, the BBA attracts more than 1,000 attendees to come together at their signature fundraising event to enjoy art and entertainment as well as support the work of the foundation in the Greater Boston community.
After graduating from BC Law, Hart joined Holland & Knight, a global law firm that works with some of the biggest corporations in the world. There, he worked at the intersection of business and law and made partner early. Hart later joined Ogletree Deakins and then Littler Mendelson before transitioning to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 2014, where he is currently Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Secretary.
In a BC Law Magazine 2022 feature story, Hart was lauded for making time to lead and participate in various community initiatives while balancing a family and demanding career. Hart is a former president of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association and co-founder of the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund, and he serves as a member on multiple boards: the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, the RAND Kenneth R. Feinberg Center for Catastrophic Risk Management and Compensation, and The Home for Little Wanderers. He has also served in the past as a BBA council member and volunteers his time as a youth sports coach and mentor.
