David Murphy was appointed superintendent of the Cambridge Public Schools in Cambridge on October 6, after having served as interim superintendent since July of 2024. He was previously the district’s chief operating officer and prior to that was deputy superintendent/chief of staff for the Boston Public Schools and chair of the Attleboro School Committee. Murphy has also worked as outside counsel to several school districts in Massachusetts and practiced at Nixon Peabody in Boston.
