Lynne Spigelmire Viti was appointed by the town of Westwood, MA, to the honorary position of inaugural poet laureate in February. A dedicated community advocate for poetry, she believes that “at this time more than ever, we need poetry as a way to celebrate, to mourn, to express our innermost feelings, and to make sense of the world around us.” Viti is a lecturer emerita at Wellesley College, a writer of poetry and fiction, a board member of the New England Poetry Club, and a blogger at lynneviti.wordpress.com.
